Sony Unveiled Successor to PlayStation Portable

Recently, Sony revealed the first details on a long-rumored successor to their struggling PlayStation Portable platform.

An online news portal - content.usatoday.com/communities/gamehunters, writes about it, “The next generation portable, code-named NGP, is scheduled to hit stores later this year.

Revealed during an event in Japan early Thursday, the NGP will feature a 5-inch OLED touchscreen, front- and rear-facing cameras, gyroscope and accelerometer, Wi-Fi and 3G support, and built-in GPS.

The device includes two thumbsticks, addressing a big complaint against the PlayStation Portable.

NGP will also introduce a new software format for games. Each title will be released on a small card using flash memory, and allow users to store downloadable content and their game saves on the card.

Further it adds, “Along with NGP, Sony also announced the PlayStation Suite, a PlayStation store of sorts that will deliver titles -- such as classics from the library of the original PlayStation -- to Android-based devices. The Suite requires Android users to have Android 2.3 operating system, code-named Gingerbread.

Sony did not offer details on what the device or games would cost.

The NGP enters a very competitive portable gaming market, with Nintendo's DS dominating the field and Apple's iPod Touch continuing to gain ground. Nintendo will release a 3-D capable DS in March.”

Sony Portable PlayStation To Be Launched in Next Week

Today, www.bloomberg.com, an online news portal reported the plans of Sony to launch PlayStation Portable in next week.

The news portal writes, “Sony, the world’s second-largest maker of portable game players, will also outline a strategy to use its networked entertainment services to share games, movies and music among handheld products, TVs and other devices, said one person, who declined to be identified because the plan isn’t public.”

Further it writes, “With the updated portable player and the Sony Ericsson touch-screen smartphone to be shown at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the Tokyo-based company aims to gain market share in markets dominated by Nintendo Co. and Apple Inc., according to one of the people, whose company makes mobile-phone software and was briefed on the plans.”

The news portal quotes a statement of Patrick Seybold also, “Patrick Seybold, a Sony spokesman, declined to say whether the Jan. 27 briefing will include the announcement of a new portable product.

The company has had trouble gaining traction with the PSP, dubbed the “Walkman of the 21st Century” by former PlayStation head Ken Kutaragi. Introduced in late 2004, the PSP has failed to catch up to the popularity of Nintendo’s products, selling 18.5 million units in the U.S. to the Nintendo DS family’s 47.4 million, according to researcher NPD Group.”

My Opinions about Nintendo DSi XL Console

Recently, I went through some review of Nintendo DSi XL Console. At first, I went through Telegraph.co.uk review about Nintendo DSiXL console. The news portal writes about the console, “…The XL’s outward design is clearly aimed at a more mature crowd than before, tapping into the success that Nintendo’s handheld has had over all ages. But there’s one thing that would get even the trendiest technophile drooling: those lovely, lovely screens. Flipping the XL open is a quite splendid surprise, as you’re greeted by two massive displays. The original DSi’s screens measured in at a respectable 3.25 inches, but the XL’s 4.2inch displays really do make a lot of difference.”

Further it writes, “One downside is that the face buttons remain the same size as on the DSi. They were fairly small -and compacted a little too closely together- on the previous console as it was. On the bigger XL, they looks a little odd and are made a little more awkward when in use by the larger surface area of the console. Due to the device’s chunkiness and extra weight, it is naturally not as easy to play on the train, or carry around in your pocket. Those who prefer their handhelds for gaming on the go are still probably best served by the smaller -more portable- original DSi, as the functionality of the XL is exactly the same.

But for those who enjoy their DSi more as a home console, there’s a lot to recommend the XL. The luxurious, chunky stylus that comes with the console borders on the indulgent. It’s also more comfortable to use over long periods than the dinky original. The console also comes pre-loaded with the majestic Flipnote Studio, and some free Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training exercises. With a RRP of £159.99 the XL is only £10 more expensive than the smaller DSi, and the overall quality of design and those wonderful screens make that a reasonable price difference.”

On the other hand, dailymail.co.uk writes about Nintendo DSiXL, “…There still isn't any sign of a snazzy motion-based game that takes advantage of this feature. Instead the cameras take decent close-up images, which can be customised with one of the 11 amusing lens effects.

You can slot in an SD card to backup your pictures or listen to music via the DSi sound application.”

We already have taken a look of Nintendo DS Lite and a market analysis of Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS. Now, Nintendo DSi XL console is the biggest achievement of Nintendo.

PlayStation 3 is the Leading Gaming Consoles of Sony

Recently, Sony introduced the most famous games on its gaming console – PlayStation 3. The most famous game on Sony PlayStation 3 - Final Fantasy XIII has increased the sales of this gaming console.

Before a week, Final Fantasy XIII is launched on Sony PlayStation 3. In Japan, the gaming console has gotten good popularity due to its new game. Overall sales of December have increased due to Final Fantasy XIII.

According to the media center of Sony, “The "Final Fantasy XIII" software scored a major success for Square Enix with sales of just over 1.5 million copies over its first four days.” The news was published in PC World.

Top 10 games on Sony PlayStation have given a new form of this console. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Demon Souls, Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time, Killzone 2 and Trine games has really dominated the market of Sony PS 3.

In 2009, PlayStation 3 dominates the best games. There is no way to ignore the console in the competition of Xbox 360 or Nintendo Wii.

The market of Sony PS3 Slim 250GB was very high in last month but it was higher than Xbox 360 or Nintendo Wii.

In the recent analysis, we had found that Xbox 360 has gotten good popularity on social media web site. In this period, sales of Nintendo Wii were very high but the popular trend was in the favour of Xbox 360 gaming console.

In the recent analysis, Microsoft revealed figure about the popularity of Xbox live. According to the analysis, about 2 millions users of Xbox Live have logged into Facebook social site. Similarly, about half million users have created an account on the Last.fm in the first 24 hours. Number of Twitter users is same as the Xbox Live users.

The data is nothing but the popularity of Xbox Live in the social media. On the social site, Xbox Live has gotten good popularity in the recent days. Now, the user’s trends are very clear. Some users surly like to spend their time on Facebook or Twitter instead of watching movies or playing games.

On the other had, the biggest news is covered by MVC today. It is the biggest online shop of UK. It has concluded the sales of Xbox 360, PlayStation and Nintendo Wii. According to it, Xbox 360 would be the winner of Xmas 2009 gaming consoles war.

Analysis of past 2 years is in the favour of Xbox 360. Sales of Xbox 360 were higher in comparison of Sony PSP and Nintendo Wii. However, this year, customers are much familiar with Sony when it cut the price of its console by £50. Customers are going with Sony also because of Sony PS3 Slim.

In the past two months, PS3 had gotten good popularity and its sales was about much higher than Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii but in the current month, sales of Wii is very high than both.

However, it is being considered that Xbox 360 will beat Nintendo Wii and PlayStation in coming December. Currently, sales of Nintendo Wii is very high than PS3 and Xbox 360. In the recent time, sales of Sony PS3 are very low in comparison of both consoles.

Increasing users on social media is the trends of more sales in coming future. On social sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Last.fm – Xbox Live and Xbox 360 have created greater popularity. Sales trends are also in the favour of Xbox consoles. So, we can conclude our analysis in the favour of Xbox 360 gaming consoles as the Xmas consoles in coming month.

Sony PS3 Slim 250GB Model from November 3 onwards in North America

Recently, Sony confirms about the PS3 Slim 250GB model. Sony 250GB PlayStation 3 gaming console is launching this year in November. Just, before a month ago Sony had announced to launch PS3 Slim 120GB model in $299 and now, after a month the company has introduced 250GB HDD loaded PS3 Slim. New Sony PlayStation 3 250GB model cost will be $349. The console will be launched in North America from November 3 onwards at first.

New Sony PlayStation Slim with 250GB model doesn’t offer installing games on the hard drive. But a customer can download more than 2300 movies through the Sony PlayStation Networks.

American consumers will not be able to enjoy with any game bundled with Sony PS3 Slim model but European consumer will get bundle a game or 2.

The new Sony PS3 model will consume 34% less power than its previous model. It has 45nm fab process but it also runs on same clock speed. It has in-built WiFi and USB Ports also.

Both models of Sony PS3 – 120GB and 250GB will be a gift for North American consumers. These are the much awaiting consoles for Christmas gift.

These features will surly attract every customers of gaming consoles but currently it is only for North American consumers. 250GB model of Sony PS3 Slim is surly better than 120GB model. There are not much price differences also so; people will surely wait for 250GB model.

Market strategies of Sony is very targeted so, it has not launched for other country currently. Once the consoles proved its quality in the hand of quality consumers, it will be for other consumers also.

Currently, people of North America are waiting their dreaming consoles – Sony PS3 250GB model from 3rd November, 2009. They are not getting some good features despite; they are getting a good console as PS3 Slim with 250GB.
